John Donald Murphy

John D. Jug Murphy, age 82, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday December 14, 2011 at Bethel Home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 27, 1929 in Oshkosh the son of Aloysius and Lucille Gibson Murphy. On November 23, 1950 he married Charlotte West at St. Marys Catholic Church in Oshkosh.Jug was a veteran of the United States Navy, a member of St Raphaels Catholic Church had worked at Meritor and was a owner/operator of Jugs Super Service for 12 years.He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing baseball, playing basketball, watching the Packers and Brewers and regularly watched games at Slades Sports Bar. He was involved with the Top Hat Dance Club, loved animals and had a great sense of humor.He is survived by his wife Charlotte, three sons Robert Murphy, James(Diane) Murphy, Patrick(Anne) Murphy, one daughter Joanne(William) Fenrich, four grandchildren Brittney Fenrich, Lacey Fenrich, Alec Fenrich, Keeana Murphy, one brother-in-law John Spanbauer, a special cousin William(Lucy) Plummer, and many close relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Spanbauer, and a cousin Jack Plummer.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 16, 2011 at 7 p.m. at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church with Rev. Doug LeCaptain officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. A Celebration of Life will be held after the service on Friday at Evil Roy Slades Sports Bar where Jugger Dogs will be served. Entombment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Oshkosh Humane Society.The family would like to thank the staff of Bethel Home staff for their care of John.
