John F. Spanbauer, 82, Oshkosh, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was born December 23, 1934, in Oshkosh, the son of John and Valeria (Celichowski) Spanbauer. John married Mary Murphy on June 30, 1955, and she preceded him in death November 18, 2010. John was employed in various sales positions throughout his life, and ultimately retired from Quad Graphics, where he had developed many lasting friendships.
John is survived by his children: Jim (Belinda) Spanbauer and Pam (Alan) Cross; grandchildren: Lauren and Peterson; sisters-in-law: Charlotte Murphy and Lucy Plummer; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, John was also preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Catherine; brothers: Ed (Dorothy) and Lawrence (Marjorie) Spanbauer; sisters: Helen Steinert, Dorothy Veard, Jeanette (Vern) Ruppel, Irene (Harold) Mueller, and Margaret (Ben) Gawaresky; brothers-in-law: “Jug” Murphy, Jack (Joan) Plummer, and Bill (Shirley) Plummer.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh, with Fr. Bill Van de Kreeke officiating. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh. Friends may gather at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
