John H. Galica, 84, of Oshkosh died at his home on Saturday December 16, 2006, surrounded by his family after a four year battle with cancer. He was born in Neenah, on July 25, 1922, a son of the late John S, and Catherine Robuck Galica. John married Betty OConnor on March 19, 1942 in Oshkosh. Betty preceded him in death on April 30, 1985.John served four years in the Army Air Corps, with the 494th Air Force heavy bomb group in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He retired from Rockwell International Company after 42 years. John attended St. Raphael Catholic Church. He was a member of many organizations; Cook-Fuller Post 70 American Legion, the Last Mans Club, 40&8 Vulcher 751, EAA, member and volunteer with the Warbirds of America for 32 years, retired member of The National Management Association, member of the committee for the Senior Winter and Summer Games, H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group), AARP, volunteer for the Fox Fitness Center, and pitched for the American Axle Triple A fast pitch team. John enjoyed traveling and playing bingo and family gatherings.Survivors include four sons, Thomas (Marcia) Galica; James Galica; Daniel (Roxann) Galica, all of Oshkosh; Robert (Sandy) Galica, Milton; one daughter, Sandra Boe, Oshkosh; one brother, Leo (Barbara) Galica, Oshkosh; two sisters, Irene Banas, Dyer IN; Regina Gruse, Oshkosh; nine grandchildren, Heidi, Buffi, Lance, Jennifer, Kelli Galica, all of Oshkosh; Elizabeth, Katherine Galica, Milton; John Boe, Oshkosh; Tommy (Jerie) Moore, Oshkosh; six great grandchildren, Sierra Peabody; Madelyn Crossman; Thomas, Samantha, Tabetha Moore, Rebecca William; one great great grandchild, Jaylee William, all of Oshkosh; very dear friend, Gloria Steiner, and her three children, Allen (Rhonda) Steiner, Beaver Dam; Catherine (Doug) Dodge, Oshkosh; Amy (Allen) Hepfner, New Hope, MN, her 13 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.John was preceded in death by four brothers, Roman, Michael, Harry and Stanley Galica; and two sisters, Elizabeth Olson, and Lucia Galica.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Raphael Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Doug LeCaptain as celebrant. Family and friends may call at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to the time of Mass. Entombment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park, with military honors. A memorial to the Military Veterans Museum has been established.On behalf of John, we would like to thank the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, Drs. Dar, Kohl, and Alzoubi for their special care.
