John "Jack" R. Haskamp

October 21, 1928 — August 8, 2017

John R. “Jack” Haskamp, age 88, born in Evanston, Illinois, October 21, 1928 to Anthony and Dorothy (Silsbe) Haskamp. Jack graduated from Evanston High School and became a builder of houses and public buildings in Oshkosh. He became the project manager of construction of the Pioneer Inn and Marina, and foreman of the addition five years later, after which he held the position of Chief Engineer for the next seven years. In his long career as a builder he worked for various contractors such as CR. Meyer, P.G. Miron, Discher Bros., Ganther, and also on his own.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the cabin in Crooked Lake, WI. He married Lois Marie Lentz on July 24, 1970. Jack and Lois enjoyed all methods of travel and were fortunate enough to have visited every continent on the plant including Antarctica. Jack and Lois had many adventures in their travels- a camel caravan in Morocco, Africa, ballooning in Columbia, tiger safari in India, and took part in a Rickshaw Race in Singapore which Jack finished first and won a Jade Figurine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Jr.; his first wife and mother of his children, Margaret Haskamp; and two sisters, Janet Carlson and Elaine Koch.
He is survived by his special love, wife, Lois Marie of Oshkosh; his children, Dorothy Haskamp of Oshkosh, Daniel Haskamp of Fennimore, WI and Michael Haskamp, of Oshkosh; step-son, Stephen (Karen) Rothenbach of Oshkosh; step-grandson, Christopher (Jodi) Rothenbach; and step-great-granddaughter, Sydney Morgan Rothenbach of Oshkosh.
A funeral service for Jack will be held on at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes- Eastside (402 Waugoo Ave.) on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 3:00PM with Fr. Jerome Pastors officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00PM until the time of service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
