John Matthew Samida

John M. Samida Jr. 79, of Oshkosh, died on Sunday, December 31, 2006 while at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation Center. John was born in the Town of Marion, Waushara County, on October 27, 1927, one of twelve children born to John and Violet Arthurs Samida Sr. He married Rita LaTour on February 24, 1951, in Oshkosh.John served in the Army during WWII and following his discharge from active duty, joined the National Guard. He retired from Medalist Industries. John also did some farming. He was an avid cribbage player and enjoyed hunting and fishing.Survivors include his wife, Rita, Oshkosh; son Peter (Mary) Samida, Oshkosh; daughter Paula (Larry) Mader, Marshfield, WI; two sisters, Josephine (Ralph) Hoppe, Oshkosh; Charlotte Samida, Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Michael Mader, Minneapolis, MN; Danny Mader, Marshfield; Michelle Mader, Marshfield; David Samida, Oshkosh; two great grandchildren, Alaina Lokken, Oshkosh; Rueben Mader, Marshfield; a special nephew, Bernie Burzik, Wild Rose; and two close friends, Jim Walters and Jim Erdman, both of Oshkosh. John was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, David, Donald, and Robert. Samida; and five sisters, Mary Burzik, Eleonor Omness, Shirley Flath, Anna Friday, and Larraine Grasse.Funeral services will be held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Eastside on Thursday, January 4, 2007, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ralph Hanusa officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM to the time of service. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park, with Military Honors. A memorial has been established.A special thank you to the staff of Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care and support to Johns family.
