John M. Isom, 47 of Van Dyne, lost his battle with cancer on the morning of Saturday October 10th, 2015. Born in Oshkosh on September 10, 1968, John was the son of Dr. Robert and Dorothy (Dottie) Isom. John graduated from Lourdes Academy in 1987, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University in 1991. John had been employed with Stryker-MAKO assisting surgeons with the use of robotically assisted partial knee resurfacing and total hip implants. John was highly regarded by the surgeons, hospital staff and patients he served. On December 2, 2000, John married the love of his life, Diana (Di) Rachupka, in Mt. Prospect, IL. John and Diana have enjoyed living in their home on the shores of Lake Winnebago since the day they married, and built there, a beautiful life together. John was truly a man for others, never hesitating to volunteer his time, talents or treasures to those who asked, and made many lasting friendships. Even during his long months of cancer treatment, John consistently put the needs of others before his own. John left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. In short, John was a kind gentleman. A gifted seaman, John was known for his superior skills at the helm (or rudder) of any type of boat, on both the water and the ice of lakes around the country. His love of sailing even took John and Diana to New Zealand for the Americas Cup regatta years ago, as well as many other sailing excursions on the high seas. John is survived by his wife Diana, his parents Robert and Dorothy, (nee Janello), sister Lori (Kelley) Isom Bentley, sister Mary (Tom) Nolte, brother Jeff (Sara, nee Roth) Isom and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his four grandparents, his aunts Mamie and Lou, his uncle Frank and father-in-law Bruno. The visitation will be held on Friday October 16th at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Dr, Oshkosh, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday October 17th at 9:00 AM, St. Jude the Apostle Church, 216 W. South Park Ave., Oshkosh. Private burial will follow, Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oshkosh. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated in Johns memory, to the American Cancer Society or to the Oshkosh Yacht Club (OYC).
