John Orville Hiltz, age 80, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at his residence. He was born to the late Orville and Josephine (Stadler) Hiltz on December 5, 1941, in Oshkosh. He married Patricia Barbieur on October 23, 1965, in Appleton. They were married for 50 years until her passing in 2015. John spent his career as a custodian, working for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for 31 years. He was also part of the Winnebago County Sheriffs reserves for 30 years and Chief Deputy for 8 years. John was a train enthusiast, building many model trains, and traveling throughout the country on with his wife, Patricia.
John is survived by his son, James (Suzanne) Hiltz; grandchildren, Dakota, and Savana Hiltz; sister, Mary Jo Hiltz; and sister-in-law, Julie Weber. He is further survived by his many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Joan (Dick) VanDensen, Patricia (Greg) Ebel, and infant sister, Nancy, and his brother-in-law, Victor Weber.
A service for John will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes Westside Funeral Home (100 Lake Pointe Dr) on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 11AM. A time of visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of service. A burial will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
