John Robert "Johnny" Kaspar

John “Johnny” passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday May 30, 2018 in Milwaukee.

John was born January 18, 1986 in Oshkosh to John D. Kaspar and Pamela (Mitchell) Kaspar.

John graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 2004. After high school, he attended UW-Oshkosh. John was a master of many trades throughout his adult life, working a variety of jobs in retail, construction, and several other skilled trades. He was fascinated by local and national politics and volunteered for several political campaigns over the years.

John had a deep love and appreciation for the great outdoors. He took after his grandpa Kaspar with his love for bird-watching, spider-collecting and camping, and his grandpa Mitchell with fishing and avid cable news watching. He also enjoyed spending quality time with family, especially summer vacations in northern Wisconsin.

He was caring and compassionate, eager to help others whenever possible. He spent many (hundreds of) hours helping with yard work and maintenance projects at family properties including a cottage on Lake Winnebago and lawns, homes and gardens in Oshkosh, Kenosha and the Northwoods. He was mechanically-inclined from an early age, most notably on display with the purchase of his first car, a Ford Probe that he repeatedly repaired with unbowed enthusiasm, and adored.

He is survived by his parents John D. Kaspar and Pamela (Mitchell) Kaspar, siblings Andrew and Taylor, grandmothers Barbara Kaspar and Rosella Mitchell, step-grandmother Cathy Kaspar, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers John L. Kaspar and Robert J. Mitchell.

John will be remembered by family and friends alike as a man with a big heart, winning smile and a perspective on the world around him that was often hilariously unique.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. at River Valley Church (1331 High Ave., Oshkosh, WI 54901) on Wednesday June 6, with a service to follow beginning at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, well-wishers may note that a memorial fund will be established, with donations to be put toward causes close to John’s heart.
