John William Behm 65, of Oshkosh passed away peacefully Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center with his family at his side. John was born April 24,1947 in Oshkosh to William and Flora (Gillig) Behm. He grew up on the family dairy farm and attended Omro Junction, Roosevelt School and graduated from Oshkosh High School with the class of 1965. After graduation he went to work for Pine Ihrig Machine Company, which later became Kingsbury Inc. For 47 years John was a dedicated employee who enjoyed his work and fellow employees. In October of 1967 he married Nancy Peterson at Trinity Episcopal Church in Oshkosh. John was an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and biking. Spending time at the family farm, enjoying the wildlife and entertaining family and friends around the campfire were some of his favorite pastimes. After being diagnosed with cancer in 1997, John was determined to LIVESTRONG and was RELENTLESS to do what he could to help others fight their disease. He annually participated in the Scenic Shore 150 bike ride raising over $75,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Having to endure many health issues over the years, Johns courage , strength and tenacity inspired many to persevere. He also enjoyed sports, Cheering on the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and his favorite NASCAR drivers. He is survived and will be missed by his wife Nancy, daughters Jillene (John)Milos of Oshkosh, Christine (Joel) Brous of Ocean City, MD and Carrie (Joseph)Lees of Bethlehem, PA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren who were the delight of his life; Zackariah, Ilana and Gretta Milos; Dryden, Hattie, George and Henry Brous; Alexander and Charlotte Lees. He is further survived by his half brother, Craig Behm of New Mexico, as well as uncles, aunts, numerous cousins and friends. He will be especially missed by, Sadie and Tia. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Johns sense of humor, quick wit and caring spirit made him many friends throughout his lifetime. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held on Thursday May 10, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church where John was an active member serving in many capacities. There will be a time of visitation from 1:00 to 5:00 pm with the funeral service immediately to follow. The church is located at the corner of Algoma and Division streets in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Johns name.
