John W. Larson Sr., 98, of Phelps, Wisconsin, passed away June 4, 2016 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on August 16, 1917, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Walter and Mabel (Springer) Larson. John married Carolyn Bonhoff on February 4, 1943, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and they celebrated their 73rd anniversary this year.John was a materials/purchasing manager for almost forty years at Armour Leather, a leather tannery. He also was a veteran of the United States Army and served our country in World War II. John enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting; and he still deer hunted at the age of 97. John liked watching sports especially the Brewers and Packers.John is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Susan (Ronald) Scott; sons, John (Barbara) and Gregory; sister, Arlene (William) Quigel; brother-in-law, Raymond Quigel; 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Amy, Sarah (Malcolm) Perdue, and Emily; and great-grandchild, Isabella Rose.John was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Quigel.A graveside service was held at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at St. Johns Cemetery, in the Township of Black Wolf, Wisconsin.
