Joseph G. Brown, Sr., age 68, Berlin, lost a courageous battle with cancer onWednesday, December 22, 2010, at his home surrounded by family. He was born June 25, 1942, in Stevens Point, son of Alvin H. and Juanita E. (Grover) Brown. Joseph dropped out of school in the 8th grade to assist his father on their family farm. Joseph was a jack of all trades and held many positions throughout his life, including being a mechanic, salesman, security guard, foreman and dump truck driver. The position most dear to his heart was driving an 18 wheeler, of which he did for over 25 years, retiring from Fox Midwest.Joseph was an avid sportsman, loving to hunt and fish. He was active in many clubs and organizations, including Whitetails Unlimited, Adaptive Sportsmen, Berlin Conservation Club, North American Hunting Club, Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Association, Wheelin Sportsmen NWTF, Beyond the Boundaries, UFFDA Buffalo County Hunt and Fox-Wolf Chapter.Joseph is survived by his children, Lisa (Jeffrey) Hunger of Berlin; Joseph (Victoria) Brown, Jr. of Winneconne; special friend, Sandra (Hall) Brown of Berlin; his grandchildren, Heather (Andrew) Poellinger of Oshkosh; Jonathan Brown of Ripon; Dylan and Matthew Brown of Oshkosh; Jenifer (Steban) Carr of Illinois; great grandchildren, Patrick, Olivia, Emily, Brianna and Diego; his sisters, Bonnie Losinski of Stevens Point; Dixie (Tony) Gray of Oshkosh; his brothers, Richard (Francis) Brown of Plover; James (Elaine) Brown of Mosinee; close friend, Robert (Barb) Eckstein along with many nieces, nephews and extended friendships. Joseph was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey L. Brown; parents, Alvin and Juanita Brown; brothers, Hugh and Fred Brown; brother-in-law, Carl Losinski; and nephew, Daniel Mortensen.Visitation for Joseph G. Brown, Sr. will be held on Monday, December 27, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to the time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside. Burial will be in Ogdensburg Park Cemetery on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 1:00 PM. A memorial has been established.Joseph had a fighting spirit and gave generously to friends and family. He was awonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed by many.The family would like to thank Hospice, Affinity Visiting Nurses, the Doctors, Mercy Medical Nurses, CNAs, Receptionists, Brian Lauren, and Jennifer of Lakeland Care District, family and friends who have been a part of Joes life. In addition, they extend thanks and appreciation to everyone who has been a part of Joes care and who have touched their hearts with kindness. A special thanks also goes to the Home Instead Senior Care and Mercy Oakwood Cancer Center.
