Joseph J. Matschi

Joseph ‘Joe’ J. Matschi, age 84, passed away at Ascension Mercy Medical Center on Friday, February 9, 2024. He was born to the late Wenzel and Rose (Bernhard) Matschi on February 11, 1939, in Oshkosh. He married Pamela Nigh on October 12, 2002, at South Park in Oshkosh.

Joe attended grade school at St. Vincent DePaul and was also a 1957 graduate of Oshkosh High School. He looked forward to spending time with his former classmates from his 9th grade class that would meet for lunch throughout the years.

Joe worked many years at the Universal Foundry until it’s closure and also drove truck. He also worked at Square D and became a licensed Realtor.

Joe was an avid Milwaukee Brewer, Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan and had been to over 200 Packer games throughout his lifetime. Joe loved all thing Peanuts/Snoopy and because of family and friends, he had quite the collection. He loved old classic cars, especially the Ford Mustang. He loved cooking and baking and had a recipe book that he referred to as the Recipe Bible. Joe also enjoyed bowling camping and hunting. He loved to cookout and listen to Country Music especially Willie Nelson who was his favorite. Above everything, Joe loved to spend time with his Family and Friends. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Life will not be the same without him.

Joe is survived by his wife, Pam; children, John Matschi, Karon Matschi, Kenneth Matschi & family, and Michael Matschi & family; grandchildren, Katelyn and Kai Matschi as well as Christopher Matschi

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Mary (Ed) Woller; and daughter-in-law, Cassie Verkuilen- Matschi.

A memorial service for Joe will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes- Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr) on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at noon. A visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of service.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date this Summer.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been set up.
