Joseph J. Robl, 103, Oshkosh, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 12, 2017. Joe was born September 20, 1913, in Oshkosh, the son of Adolph and Clara (Buettner) Robl. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having fought in WWII with the 32 Division in the South Pacific. During his military involvement Joe earned several ribbons and badges including: Bronze Star 2/Battle Asiatic-Pacific, American Defense, Good Conduct, Infantry Combat-Distinguished Unit, and 5 overseas bars. Joe was past commander of the V.F.W. Post 1908, and past president of the Red Arrow Club. In the middle of all Joe’s involvement he found time to settle down with Viola Juedes, who he married in February 1946. She preceded him in death December 1990. Joe enjoyed playing the harmonica, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.
Joe is survived by his grandson, Matthew (Brenda) Felix; 2 great grandchildren: Melanie and Benjamin Felix; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Robl; nephews: Gerald (Roxy), Thomas (Kathleen), Michael (Cheryl), Daniel (Daphne), and Steven (Cindy).
In addition to his wife, Joe was also preceded in death by his daughter, Judith (Dale) Felix, and brothers: Alvin and Anton (Genevieve) Robl.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017, at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh, with Rev. Kelly Leary officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service. Full military honors will be presented after the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Joe’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Bethel Home, as well as Aurora at Home Hospice, for their compassionate and loving care.
