Joshua R. Meyers, age 19, was a big-hearted, warm and caring man that was tragically taken from us on January 10, 2006, as the result of a violent crime.Josh was not your typical teen. Josh had a zest for life that was contagious and was able to make you smile when you felt like crying. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing and most any outdoor activity. After overcoming insurmountable odds, Josh found strength to overcome his many burdens and gave us strength to carry ours. He had a job with dreams and goals to start his own company. He began using his drive to motivate himself and others around him to succeed but we will never be able to see his full potential. Josh was born in Oshkosh and worked at Lapham-Hickey Steel. He is survived by his mother, Susan Worm of Oshkosh; his father, Stanley Meyers Jr. of Oshkosh; a brother, Kristopher Johnston of Oshkosh; sisters, Kayla and Elizabeth Meyers of Oshkosh , Jennifer Jeffers of Neenah great grandparents, Ruby Worm of New London, Art (Lillian) Williams of Oshkosh; grandparents, William (Wendy) Worm of New London, Stanley Meyers Sr., Patricia Bruley both of Oshkosh; aunts, Kimberly Hoffman of Madison, Elizabeth (Tim) Lux of Omro, Marie Daney of Oshkosh , Marcella Meyers of California , Kari Ann Resop; uncle, Rudolph Meyers of Oshkosh; cousins, Danielle and Nathanael Hoffman both of Madison, Zachary Lux of Omro; great uncles and great aunts and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandmother Patricia Worm and a great grandfather Leeland Worm.Thank you Josh for the gifts you shared of unconditional love, to be more compassionate and other duties of the heart. We are grateful for the love you gave us and we will miss you. Josh, you will live in our hearts forever.Services for Josh will be held on Monday, January 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church (1526 Algoma Blvd ? Oshkosh) with the Reverend Jeff Berg officiating. Family and friends may call at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home ? Westside on Sunday, January 15, 2006 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and again at church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to the service time. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Joshs family would ask that a donation in his name be made to www.pomc.com (National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children, Inc.). If one family is helped to battle these senseless violent crimes then Josh did not give his life for nothing.
