Joyce Mae Kearn, age 77, of Town of Ellington, passed away on December 18, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 31. 1939 in Appleton, a daughter of Harold John and Doris Elizabeth Mills Neubert. On April 30, 1960 she married Gordon Kearn at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Appleton.Joyce had a zest for life and was always on the go. She enjoyed being a bus driver and hairdresser. She began her career as a hairdresser at Vogue Beauty Salon in Appleton, and then fulfilled her dream of owning her own salon as the owner/operator of Shear Country Salon in Greenville, and most recently did hair at Peabody Manor, and Fox Valley Lutheran Homes in Appleton. You could catch a haircut on the fly anytime, day or night. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and cherished her family and many friendships. Her home was always open to anyone. She is loved by the exchange students she hosted the last several years. Jenny, Melissa, Amy, Ji and Joung. They all call her grandma. She will be remembered most by her generous spirit and huge heart which touched many lives. Above all she was a wife, mother and grandmother. Her nine grandchildren were the light of her life. She will be dearly missed by her husband Gordon, one son Jeff(Ann) Kearn, three daughters Jody(Todd) Ziegler, Faye(Joe) Diedrich, Kristi(Jay) Schultz, nine grandchildren, Samuel and Zachary Ziegler, Curtis, Derrick, Anthony, Benjamin and Cianna Diedrich, Ella and Charles Schultz, one sister Lois Ellenbecker and her family which she held dear to her heart, special nieces Nona(Mike) Jozwiak, Karrie (Harry) Torbeck and their families along with other relatives and friends that she held dear to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and their wives Milton(Alice) Neubert, Russell(Cecilia) Neubert, Mills(Jeannie) Neubert, Eben Burt ( Agnes) Neubert, a brother-in-law Louis Ellenbecker and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral Services for Joyce will be held on Friday December 23, 2016 at noon at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church(N1615 Meadowview Dr. Greenville, Wi). Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah.A memorial has been established. The family would like to thank Dr. Cherian, Rev. Mielke, and the staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital Fremont 3, and other caregivers and therapists that helped Joyce through her time of need during the last year.
