Joyce R. Suelflow

Joyce Rosalind Suelflow, age 89, passed away on Tuesday July 21, 2015 with her family members by her side.Joyce was born on April 12, 1926 in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late Thorlief and Mildred (Townsend) Thompson. After graduating from high school, Joyce worked as a teller for First National Bank of Oshkosh. Joyce married John A. "Jack" Suelflow on July 1, 1945 in Oshkosh. She enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her two daughters and son. In 1983 she began working again outside the home as a media center specialist at Oshkosh North High School until her retirement ten years later. Joyce was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Oshkosh and was active in the church's Elizabeth Circle for many years.Joyce is survived by her daughters Jan (Daniel) Ernst of Grafton, Wisconsin; Joy (Robert) Himmler Jr. of Oshkosh; her son Thomas (Sara) Suelflow of Woodbury, Minnesota; her grandchildren Jeff (Amanda) Ernst; Emily (Jason) Ernster; Brett (Stephanie) Himmler; Adam, Owen, and Kyle Suelflow; and her great-grandchildren Kelsie and Jackson "Jack" Ernst; and Claire and Edmund "Ned" Ernster. She is also survived by her brother Knute (Caroline) Thompson of Clintonville and her sister Janet (Lyle) Hansen of Clintonville. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jack Suelflow, her parents, and brother-in-law Duaine Hansen.A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1860 Wisconsin Street, Oshkosh with Pastor Jan Veseth officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the church. Entombment will take place on Friday afternoon at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1860 Wisconsin Street, Oshkosh, WI 54901.The Ernst, Himmler, and Suelflow families would like to thank the staff of The Waterford of Oshkosh Assisted Living for their dedication and wonderful care for Joyce, and also the staff of Heartland Hospice and Preferred Home Healthcare.
