Judy Lilly, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at home with her husband of 58 years, Fred Lilly, by her side.Judith C. Lilly was born on July 19, 1935 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Adele Kaplan Sweeney and Irving R. Ehrlich. She grew up in Denver, Colorado, received her B.A. from the University of Denver in 1957 and was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority. She received her M.A. from the University of Chicago in 1961. Judy married Frederick L. Lilly, Jr. on March 17, 1956.Judy enjoyed her family, friends, and people in general. She took pleasure in entertaining, cooking, music, nature, dancing, reading, traveling and volunteering in the community. Judy was an English and social studies teacher, household executive, and managed her own income tax business. As a civic leader, Judy was involved in many community organizations: Hyde Park Neighborhood Association, Chicago and Cleveland International Programs - CIP (director), Shaker Heights League of Women Voters (co-president), Garden Club, Shaker Heights City (zoning board of appeals), Shaker Heights Youth Center (trustee), Ohio Society of Enrolled Agents (director), Judson Senior Living (director), SCORE, Severance Center and numerous others.In addition to her husband, Fred Lilly, Judy is survived by her children, Jeanne (Don) Bredbeck, Bryan (Lee Ann) Lilly; grandchildren Jaclyn and Julia Lilly; sister Channah Gay (Chuck) Edwards; cousin/sister Nadine Lander (Ira) Shulman; cousins: Adele (Carlson) Jacobs; Martha Berman Tobias and family; Paula Shulman (Matthew) Josephson and family; Stefanie (Daniel) Cutler and family; brother-in-law John (Mary) Lilly; nieces and nephews: Kristin and Doug Lilly; Kat (Daniel) and Scarlet Abraham; Marc Pruter; Anna and Helena Bartkowski.A memorial service honoring Judy Lilly will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014, 10:00 am at Evergreen Retirement Community, 1130 N. Westfield, Oshkosh, WI, officiated by Pastor Cathy Wiegand of Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church, followed by visitation and lunch. The burial will follow later at King Military Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Evergreen Foundation. www.EvergreenOshosh.com
