June S. Miller, age 91, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Bethel Home. She was born on June 9, 1926, the daughter of John and Lillian (Grusnick) Jungwirth in Oshkosh.
On June 10, 1948, in Oshkosh, June married Donald H. Miller, who had returned home after serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II, and were blessed to share 69 years together. Don preceded her in death by only two months on August 2 of this year.
June was devoted to her home and family. When her sons were young, she was proud to have served as PTA president at Smith School, promoting educational and fundraising activities for the children. As a member of Peace Lutheran Church, June taught Sunday school for many years. June had a very generous spirit with her thinking of others before herself and being sympathetic to many causes such as breast cancer research, of which she was a survivor, and military support groups. Through the years, she enjoyed flower gardening and bowled in various leagues. She also served on several reunion committees for her graduating class from Oshkosh High School.
June is survived by two sons, John (Mary Ellen) Miller of Fort Atkinson, and Daniel Miller, Oshkosh; granddaughter, Heidi Marie Miller of Woodbury, MN; two sisters, Fern (Russel) Shafer and Sharon (James) Roy, both of Oshkosh; sister-in-law, Phyllis Willert of Two Rivers; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; sisters- and brothers-in-law; Audrey and Donald Fusk, Shirley Miller, James and Elaine Miller, Wallace Miller, and Frederic Willert.
A memorial service for June will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel Home Chapel, 225 North Eagle Street, with Chaplain Nancy Twichell officiating. Visitation will be held starting at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be held at Lake View Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the following individuals for all the love and care they extended to June during the past few months: the nursing staff and caregivers at Bethel Home, Dr. Kirtida Ringwala, and the caring staff from Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice. Your kindness and dedication was greatly appreciated.
