With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Junior Hans Peterson, a cherished member of the Oshkosh community, who peacefully left this world on July 30, 2024. Born on January 1, 1931, in Oshkosh, WI, to the late Hans and Ester (Tank) Peterson. Junior was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Barbara, and a loving father to his children, Richard, Susan, Sally, Jane, and James.
Throughout his life, Junior made significant contributions to his community, serving as a founding member of the Oshkosh Auxiliary Police in 1959. He was a dedicated member of the Elks club, volunteered at the EAA since its inception in Oshkosh, and actively participated in the Krobar Club. A man of many talents, Junior found joy in bowling and dedicated his time to various charitable endeavors, with a soft spot for St. Jude the Apostle Parish where he was an active member.
Despite his many accomplishments, Junior's greatest joy was found in the love he shared with his family. His devotion to his wife and children was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and community spirit will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
Junior is survived by his loving wife, Barb; children, Sally (Larry) Christianson, and James Peterson; daughter-in-law, Joni Peterson.
In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his children, Richard, Jane and Susan; brothers, Richard, Kenneth, and Donald
In honor of Junior's memory, a visitation will be held on August 5, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Jude the Apostle Parish-St Vincent site, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. We invite all those who knew and loved Junior to come together to celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him.
Junior leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service that will be remembered for years to come. May he rest in peace, knowing he made a lasting impact on the hearts of many.
