Kathleen "Kat" M. Sauer

October 19, 1949 — February 4, 2021

Kathleen “Kat” M. Sauer, age 71, passed away on February 4, 2021 peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born in Oshkosh to the late Michael and Marcella Grabner on October 19, 1949. Kathy married Gene Sauer on June 14, 1969.
Kathy, Gene, and their son, Al, have been volunteering and attending EAA for over 30 years together and the Warbirds of America was especially their area of interest. Kathy and Shari enjoyed their mother-daughter trips to Seattle, to visit Kathy’s son, Al when he lived there for 14 years before moving back to the Midwest. For a time, Kathy volunteered at the Oshkosh Area Humane Society, and shared a love for animals with her daughter. She enjoyed visiting her granddaughter, Lucie, who she referred to as “Cupcake”.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Gene; one son, Al (Sunshine Nimz); one daughter, Shari (Steven) Van Lysal; two brothers, Ronald (Karla) Grabner and Mike (Rosie) Grabner; one granddaughter, Lucie Nimz-Sauer; and her two kitties, Ollie and Toby.
Kathy is further survived by nieces and nephews and her special lifelong friend since first grade, Linda Schneider.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 11am until 1pm at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (100 Lake Pointe Drive).
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ascension Home Hospice for their compassion. Thank you especially to Jenny, Joy, Nicole, and Dr. Williams for the kindness, nursing, aide, and spiritual support that she needed in her final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established to the Ascension Hospice and the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
