Kenneth Cartwright

Dr. Kenneth Doc Cartwright, age 65, of Oshkosh passed away Friday, November 6th, 2009 at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 19th, 1944, the son of Lorene and the late James Cartwright.On August 17th, 1991 he married his best friend and soul mate Cathy Jean Hawley. They recently celebrated 18 years of happiness together. He was the father of three daughters Erica Greis (Steve), Adrienne Cartwright (fianc Collin Hayes), Lisa Boushele and proud grandfather of Ian and Evan Greis.Born and raised in Missouri, he spent his summers on his Uncle Richards farm nurturing his desire to become a large animal veterinarian. After graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in veterinary medicine, he moved to Wisconsin to pursue his career and eventually establish his own practice, Valley Reproductive Service. Docs hands-on approach to treating animals and educating his clients toward their future success created strong bonds and established lasting friendships and mutual respect between them.The highlight of his day was seeing the farm kids come running out when they heard his truck pulling into the yard. Doc always had a supply of Tootsie Pops to satisfy their sweet tooth and his. Doc retired from his practice in July 2008. He was an active member of the Winnebago County Fair Board and a constant supporter of the Small Frys in Training and 4H Programs. He recently began facilitating a computer training class at the Oshkosh Senior Center and was active in the Pulmonary Hypertension Support Groups in Appleton and Milwaukee.Ken is survived by his mother, loving wife, three daughters, two grandsons, his brother Jim (Jan) Cartwright, in-laws Jerry and Donna Hawley, brothers and sisters in-law Cheryl (Kevin) Messerschmitt, Terry (Tracy) Hawley, and Rich (Lynn) Hawley. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father James Cartwright.His memorial service will be Monday November 9, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home - Westside. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM until the time of the service. Docs family would like to encourage casual dress for this gathering.
