Kenneth Charles Konrad

August 31, 1939 — April 4, 2013

Kenneth Konrad, 73, found peace at home surrounded by loved ones and his faithful little dog, Ellie, after a long battle with illness. He was born in Oshkosh to Erwin and Ruth Konrad. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Phil and Ronnie. He is survived by his wife Angela, his daughter Tracy (Jeff) Guy of California, son Jon (Lisa) Konrad of Colorado, brothers Jim (Carol) of Green Bay, Mike (Barb) of Fond du Lac, Mark (Delores) of Peshtigo, sister Sally (Jack) Daubert of Pardeeville, granddaughter, Ahnna, grandsons James, Jeremy, Ian, Eli and Ethan and one great granddaughter Leahla and many beloved nieces and nephews.Ken graduated from Oshkosh High in 1957 and joined the United States Navy where he enjoyed a highly decorated career, including 2 yrs as PBR (Patrol Boat River) Captain in Vietnam and another Vietnam tour on the USS Krishna. He also served on the USS English, the USS North Hampton, USS Albany, USS Passumsic, and various duty stations, finishing his 20 years career as Chief Quarter Master, (Tugmaster), in Long Beach, CA. After the military, Ken started a career in Law Enforcement in Vernal, Utah, and then retired from Washington State Corrections in 2000, before moving back home to Oshkosh. Ken lived to hunt, fish and spend time with family and friends. He loved gardening and building bird houses. He was a great man, is loved and will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, (Eastside) on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
