Kenneth Charles Stoffel

Ken C. (aka Duke or The Stallion) Stoffel, age 62, died of a brain tumor on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton. Ken was born on Sunday, March 11, 1951, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, to Herb and Fran (Hintz) Stoffel. Ken graduated from St. Therese Grade School, Appleton in 1966; Xavier High School, Appleton in 1970; UW Oshkosh with a BS in 1974 and a MS in 1978.Ken married Rebecca (Beck) Olig on February 12, 1983 in Oshkosh. Ken was employed with the Kewaunee County Unified Board, Algoma, 1979-1982; Winnebago County: Department of Social Services, 1982; Unified Board, 1982-1985; Department of Community Programs, 1985-2001; and the Department of Human Services, 2001-2011, Oshkosh. Ken retired from the latter on February 2, 2011. Throughout the years, Ken also served on various boards and committees. Ken will be missed by wife, Beck, and dog, Pippa; sister, Jean Rathsack, and her family, Mike Rathsack, Jen Ripley, Irish Ripley and Paige Rathsack; Rob and Kim Rathsack; brother, Jim and Sally Stoffel, and their family, Jen, Joe, Abigale and Alivia Brown; Lisa, Ben, Cole and Luke Johnson; brother, Rick and Rae Stoffel, and their family, Lindsey, Josh, Lily, Caedmon, Hadassah, Vivianna, Olivet and August Golackson; Natalie, Tim, Gretta, Samuel, Silas and Leila Gremore; Phillip and Danielle Stoffel; sister, Karen and Steve Stroess; and brother, Chris and Maureen Stoffel, and their family, Paul, Amie and John Stoffel; parents-in-law, Eddie and Mary Olig; brother-in-law, Mike Olig, and his family, Nicole Olig and Chris Rasmussen; Peter and Kendra Olig, Kylee Courtney and Kennedy Olig; Nicole and Peters mother, Peg Olig; sister-in-law, Rachel and Steve Wiegert; sister-in-law, Sarah and Dale Hynek; brother-in-law, Pete and Tammy Olig, and their family Emma, Simon and Josey Olig. In addition, Ken is survived by dear aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Fran Stoffel; brother-in-law, Bob Rathsack; nephew, Brian Rathsack; nephew, Jacob Stoffel; nephew, Edward Olig; and his dog, Scout. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish St. Mary Catholic Church, 605 Merritt Avenue, Oshkosh, with Rev. Tim Shillcox, O. Praem officiating. Lunch will follow the service. Visitation will take place at the church, beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial will take place at St. Gregory Cemetery, St. Nazianz, at a later date. Heartfelt thanks to each and every person who cared for Ken in any way, directly or indirectly, at UW Hospital, Madison; Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh; St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton; Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton. And thanks beyond measure to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, care, concern and support, since the onset of Kens illness on January 26, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the charitable organization of your choice. Any gifts received by the family will be directed to various charitable organizations in memory of Ken. Bask in the light, warmth, peace, love and serenity that now surround you, Ken!
