Kenneth M. Voss, 84, passed away, surrounded by family, on Dec. 28, 2016. Ken was born on Dec. 25, 1932, in Oshkosh, WI, the son of Elmer and Lucille (Bloedow) Voss. He married Helen (Zimdars) on June 21, 1956.Ken was a cheerful and sociable person who would take time to chat with anyone he met. An avid hunter and fisherman, he spent many happy years with family and friends at the Ponda Vossa, the cabin he built with his father and brothers in northern Wisconsin. Ken entered the U.S Army in 1952 and served two years in Germany. A machinist by trade, he started his apprenticeship at Deltox, moving on to work at Enterprise Steelfab and retiring from Arrowhead Conveyor after more than 30 years. After retiring, he became an accomplished carver who won honors at area carving shows and created many special pieces for family and friends. Ken had a wide variety of interests that kept him active throughout his life. He was an avid golfer and motorcyclist for most of his life. He was a member of the Oshkosh Aces Motorcycle Club, attending motorcycle rallies and events. He was often seen riding through town on his Harley Davidson Sportster and later his BMW motorcycle.Ken was an active member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and was the go to guy for repairs, setting up for church functions - even catching the occasional bat in the church basement.. He also was on the church council, served as an usher and sang in the church and the Kingsmen choirs. He also volunteered at EAA, helping to restore a vintage airplane. After retirement he spent five years working as a driver for Bergstrom. He was a regular at the Oshkosh Saturday Farmers Market, enjoying his coffee and egg roll and talking with friends, vendors and others he encountered.Ken is survived by his wife, Helen; his two children, Stacie Voss (Tom Denow) and Steven (Lisa) Voss; grandchildren, Brooke Mongan, Margaret Voss, Katherine Voss and Alison Voss; sisters, Pat Tellock and Nancy Voss and brothers, Lyle (Dorothy) Voss and Larry (Trina) Voss; stepbrother, David Juedes; stepsister, JoAnn (Ken) Wiechman, with whom they shared many years of friendship; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Dorothy Voss.Helen would like to thank her niece, Sue Bushman, for her care and concern over the years.The family invites family and friends of Ken to celebrate his life on Saturday, Jan 14. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m., with services to follow at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 808 N. Main St.
