Kenneth Morgan Kerstell

November 3, 1945 — December 22, 2017

Kenneth M. Kerstell, age 72, passed away at his home after a long battle with cancer on Friday, December 22, 2017. Ken was born to the late Frank and Virginia (Tollard) Kerstell in Oshkosh, WI. He married Linda Mateyka on May 4, 1973 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; together they had a daughter Kimberly. He started his career at Universal Foundry until its closing and finished his career at Oshkosh Truck after working there for almost 25 years. Ken was a member of UAW; he enjoyed making his own fishing baits and loved giving them away to his friends and kids at the campground; he was an avid deer, and turkey hunter as well as an avid fisherman. He also loved the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, and the Wisconsin Badgers. Ken was a member at Most Blessed Sacrament- St. Mary’s.

Ken is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Kimberly (Chad) Stelzer; daughter-in-law, Becky Kerstell; seven grandchildren, Keagan, Hunter, and Madisyn “Queenie” Stelzer, and Scott (Emaline), Parker, Jeremy and Jonathan Kerstell; brother, Dennis (Polly) Kerstell; half-brother, Jeffrey (Susan) Kerstell, sisters in law, Fran Wright and Mary Stelter; and brother in law, Charles M. Mateyka. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank (Pat) Kerstell and Virginia (Marvin) Krause; his son, Christopher Kerstell; brother, Ronald Kerstell; half brother, Raymond Kerstell; step-brothers, Michael and James Wright; sister in law, Marge Mateyka; and brother in law, Bob Stelter.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:30AM on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Most Blessed Sacrament- St. Mary’s (605 Merritt Ave. Oshkosh, WI 54901) with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. A visitation will take place at church from 9AM until the time of service.
In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
