Larry A. Yoder passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, July 19th, 2018.
Larry was born on December 24, 1939 to the late Perry and Ivalee (McGinnis) Yoder in McLean County, Bloomington, Illinois. In 1954, his family moved to Oshkosh, WI to the family farm where Larry resided for his entire life.
What started with a wink, tied the knot on February 14th 1959, resulting in almost 60 years of marriage to the love of his life, Margaret (Nolte) Yoder. They were blessed with five children and one of them, Kelly Jo, will be welcoming her Dad in heaven.
Larry graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1957. He was an FFA Member. As the VP of Perry Yoder & Sons Inc, he farmed most of his life. In 2000, the cows were sold and he worked at Bemis Co. for 4 years.
He was baptized and confirmed at the Mennonite Church of Danvers, IL. He was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Ring, WI from 1960-1972 and was a current member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ. He served on the church council, was a member of the Dartball League, an usher, and a greeter--always with a smile.
Larry served on the Board of Directors for the United Cooperative (Pickett Cooperative). He was a volunteer fireman for the Nekimi Fire Department.
Larry loved spending time with his family. He also loved to farm, mow the grass, listen to classic country music, and watch good old western movies.
Surviving Larry are his loving wife Margaret, his four children: Julie (Glen) Barthels, Lisa (Peter) Smith, Lee (Ellen) Yoder, and Lori (Jon) Potratz. Grandchildren: John (Heidi) Barthels, Andy (Jen) Barthels, and Adam (Kelsey) Barthels, Kelsie Smith, Lance, Cole, and Reed Yoder, Michael and Brandon Potratz. Great Grandchildren: Natalie, Kayden, Cora, Ella, Ezden, Harvey Barthels, and one more Barthels on the way. Also surviving is his ever faithful black lab, Charlie. His siblings Dennis (Janet) Yoder, Judy (Bob) Jones, Marianne (Bill) Davies and brother-in-law Ray Hitz. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends and neighbors.
Preceding him in death are his daughter Kelly Jo, his grandson, Luke Adrian Smith, his parents, his in-laws Henry and Dorothy Nolte, brother-in-law Richard (Jackie) Nolte and his sister-in-law Phyllis Hitz and his nieces Corrine Yoder and Kara Domasky. Also his great niece Megan Hansen and great nephew Derek Nolte
