Larry James “Jess” Piotter, age 75, passed away peacefully on January 5th at his home in Berlin, in the presence of his two sons, following a courageous battle with cancer. Jess was born on February 27th, 1945 and was the third child of Martin and Lucille Schultz Piotter.
Jess graduated from Omro High School in 1963 and was a member of the varsity wrestling team. He then attended Fox Valley Technical College and pursued a career in tool design. He was hired by Sundstrand Corp in Rockford IL, and soon met and married Vickie Louise Mills, on October 9th, 1970. In 1974, Jess and Vickie returned to Omro and raised two boys. During this time, Jess furthered his education at Moraine Park Technical college and earned a degree in Industrial engineering. Jess and Vickie divorced in 2007, after 37 years of marriage. Jess, then moved to Berlin, WI, where he continued his tackle business while working for Citation and later Grady Foundry. He retired from the foundry in 2015. Jess will be remembered for his love of fishing, and how he turned that passion into a custom tackle business, Angling Solutions. If Jess was not in his basement working on the next custom project or building inventory for the Fremont white bass run, Jess could be found in his boat or belly boat chasing his favorite fish, smallmouth bass.
He is survived by his two sons Shawn (Cristen) Piotter, Jason (Amy) Piotter and 5 grandchildren. Madalyn, Reiley, Caiden, Gavin, and Mason. He is further survived by his siblings; Marcia (Bob) Nowicki, Marshall Piotter, and Judy (Steve) Mugerauer.
Jess was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Lucille Piotter
