Laverne Ann Cartwright

Laverne A. Cartwright, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh. She was born on March 21, 1924, in Chicago to the late Herman and Irene (Oroorke) Trostel. Laverne was united in marriage to Paul Cartwright on May 25, 1943, in Waupaca.

Mom was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She had a strong witt and a zest for life.  Her greatest joy was anytime she would spend with family. She loved our picnics, our Christmas parties, or any other reason we could find to get together.

In mom’s early years, she loved to roller skate and bowl.  She always listened to her polka music and was quite the dancer.  Later in life, she enjoyed her crafting and was always making things for people. In the last few years, she always had her word search books around her.

Mom worked many years at Miles Kimball until her retirement.

Laverne is survived by her sons: William (La Donna), Walter (Sandra), and Donald (Kelly) Cartwright; daughters: Diane (Fran) Jacquest, Anita Davidson, Peggy (Jack) DeWall, Dawn Cartwright; 18 grandkids, 36 great grandkids, and 27 great-great grandkids.

She was further preceded in death by her husband, Paul Cartwright; daughter, Carol Patience; siblings: William Trostel, Kay Benda; son-in-law, Barry Davidson; grandson, Nicholas Davidson; and granddaughters, Doreen and DeAnn Jacquest.

A visitation for Laverne will be at 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Lake View Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, WI. Interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park immediately following the visitation.
