LaVerne M. Zemke, 77, of Oshkosh went peacefully to her eternal rest after a courageous battle with cancer on June 15, 2006. LaVerne was born on August 27, 1928 to the late Harry and Adela Luebke Nimmer. On July 25, 1953 she married Robert Zemke at Zion Lutheran Church in Van Dyne. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1987.LaVerne was employed at Buckstaff and SNC Manufacturing where she retired after many years. She was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Van Dyne, was involved in many church activities and enjoyed spending time with her grand and great grandchildren.Survivors include a son, Dennis (Paula) Zemke of Larsen; two daughters, Bonnie (Mark) Wiener of North Fond du Lac, Sue (Jeff) Cavil of Salem; three brothers, Robert Nimmer, Carlton Nimmer both of Oshkosh, Harry (Gladys) Nimmer Jr. of Berlin; two sisters, Lorraine (Gordon) Kargus, Jeanette (Ronald) Leeman both of Oshkosh; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Zwicky of Oshkosh; two sisters-in-law, Anita Nimmer of Oshkosh, Sr. Lorna Zemke of Manitowoc; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. LaVerne was preceded in death by one brother Earl Nimmer and two sisters, Erma Zwicky and her twin, Fern Spanbauer.Funeral Services for LaVerne will be held on Saturday June 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Van Dyne with the Rev. Lester Fritz officiating. Family and friends may call at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home – Westside (100 Lake Pointe Drive) on Friday June 16, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again at church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to the service time. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church. LaVernes family would like to thank the employees and staff at Park View Health Center-Pleasant Acres and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center-Oshkosh for their special care.
