Lawrence J. Schilcher, 80 Oshkosh, passed away peacefully Wednesday June 11, 2008 at Evergreen Retirement Community. He was born in Oshkosh on August 26, 1927, to Alfred and Agnes Robl Schilcher. Lawrence served in the U.S.Navy from 1944-1948. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for 35 years at the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh retiring in 1989.He married Patricia Spaedtke on November 3, 1956 in Oshkosh. Lawrence enjoyed fishing, reading, watching sports on television and especially gardening.Survivors include his wife Patricia; daughter Lori Schilcher, Oshkosh; son Gregory (Christine) Schilcher, Plover; granddaughters Anna and Olivia, Plover; three brothers, Clifford, Norman (Charlotte), and Sylvester (Centa) and one sister Mary Schilcher, all of Oshkosh; also numerous nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by his brother Alvin, his twin brother Leonard, Cliffords wife Pat Schilcher, and his parents.A funeral Mass for Lawrence will take place on Monday June 16, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St Josaphat Church (1335 Walnut St.) with Fr. James Jugenheimer presiding. Visitation will precede the service at 9:00 AM. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.The family would like to express deep appreciation to the staffs at Caring Connections and Evergreen Retirement Community and to Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established
