Lea May Kolterjahn, age 85 formerly of Horseshoe Bend, AR, passed away at Bellin Memorial Hospital in Green Bay, WI on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. She was born in Oshkosh, WI on May 4, 1936 to the late Casper and Katherine (Weber) Peppler. She grew up on the family farm in Pickett, WI with 12 brothers and sisters. She loved reminiscing over her childhood on the farm.
Lea graduated from Ripon High School in 1954, and married Jack Kolterjahn on September 1, 1956 at the Pickett Lutheran Church. They were blessed with one son. She worked as a special education teacher’s aide throughout the Winneconne Public Schools.
Lea was active at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and volunteered at EAA Airventure along with Jack for 35 years. She was an excellent organist, cook, and baker. She enjoyed golfing, flower gardening, and boating with her family.
Lea is lovingly survived by her husband, Jack Kolterjahn; son: Garth (Amy) Kolterjahn; grandchildren: Cassandra, Madison, and Maxx; and brother: Reuben. She is further survived by in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lea was preceded in death by her siblings: Alex, Eleanor, William, Frederick “Fritz”, Adolph, Edwin, Ruth, Emmanuel, Katherine, David, and Lydia; as well as in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Lea will take place at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 808 N. Main St. with Dr. Tom Fritz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be established.
