Leroy James Chapin, age 67, of Oshkosh passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018. He was born on August 22, 1950 to James and Violet (Christiansen) Chapin.
Most will remember Leroy for his amazing physical strength during his youth. He became a golden gloves boxing champion in the 70’s and from then on was given the nickname, “Champ.” He had a unique personality. We loved his sense of humor and honesty. Leroy was a fighter, but became a lover, after Jesus Christ changed his heart. He loved his family and would often say, “I’m praying for you” even though he was sick and needed prayer himself. He was deeply loved and will miss him greatly.
Leroy is survived by his parents; his siblings: Jack (Marion), Danny (Beth), Valerie Kent, Larry (Karen), Randy (Bonnie), Darrell (Mary), Rick (Malissa), and Marylyn Ochowicz; his companion of 25 years: Christa Henry, who referred to Leroy as the kindest man she knew; he was number 1, and their furry companion “Peppy”. He is further survived by dozens of nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed giving silly nicknames to.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Garland.
