Leroy R. Andresen

LeRoy Andy Andresen, 89, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin died Monday January 5th, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center.Andy was born on July 21, 1925 in New London to Ralph and Jennie (Soper) Andresen. He married Vi Prellwitz on June 18, 1949 in Oshkosh.He attended Berlin High School and completed his schooling at Oshkosh High School in 1943. He worked at the Wisconsin Axle and later joined the construction trade working for Precaur Construction. In 1949, Andy obtained his journeyman license as a carpenter. Always an outgoing and hard worker, Andy decided to strike out on his own and in 1953 started his own carpentry business which later became known as Andresen Builders. Through his construction and rental businesses, Andy had many good friends within his customers, tenants, suppliers and other contractors. He was always known around Oshkosh for his striped bib overalls, big smile, honesty and quality work. Andy successfully retired in 1986.Andys great love, besides his family was spending time at their cottage in Three Lakes. There he enjoyed his hunting weekend with his buddies, listening to polka music, going out for dinner with friends, renovation projects, boating and snowmobiling. He and his wife were official snow birds flying south to Florida with friends from Wisconsin during the winter months. For the last nine years, Andy has been a resident of Evergreen Retirement Community. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Evergreen for their friendship and compassion. Andy is survived by his daughter Patti (Steve) Andresen-Shew of Oshkosh; a grandson Alex Shew of Oshkosh; a sister Lorraine Stenerson of Oshkosh and three sister-in-laws, Nancy (Roger) Wolf of Glidden, Darlene Lyness of Fond du Lac and Trudy Prellwitz of Tacoma, WA. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and three brothers-n-law.As a longtime and active member of Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church, Andy requested that his final celebration in this world be held there. The funeral service for Andy will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church, Rev. Paul Lidtke officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial is being established in memory of Andy.
