Leroy Richard Witzke

LeRoy Witzke, 90, Oshkosh, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 18, 2016, with his family by his side. He was born August 31, 1925, in Oshkosh, the son of William and Lydia (Hoeppner) Witzke. LeRoy served our country in the US Air Force for several years, during which time he met and married Katherine Kay Hanley. Together they moved from Hampton, Virginia, to Oshkosh, where LeRoy received a degree in Mathematics from the University of Oshkosh. After graduation, LeRoy was employed as an engineer for an architectural firm for many years, and later worked as a building inspector for the state of Wisconsin until his retirement. LeRoy enjoyed many hobbies throughout his lifetime including: dancing with Kay, gardening, camping, traveling, woodworking, golfing, bowling, boating and fishing, and was an avid Packer fan. He was Past Exalted Ruler for the Elks Club BPOE 292, and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.LeRoy is survived by his wife, Kay; three daughters: Jeanne (Charles) Swan, Linda (Terry) Monteith, and Ellen (Dennis) Statz; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; a brother, Henry Witzke; and a sister, Audrey McBriar.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gilbert Witzke.Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh, with an Elks service to follow at 4:30 p.m. Full military honors will conclude the services at the funeral home. Rev. Jeffrey Knoll will officiate. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 605 E.
