Lois Jean Gagnon

December 27, 1928 — May 17, 2022

Lois Gagnon, age 93, passed away peacefully May 17, 2022, at her residence at the Evergreen Living Community in Oshkosh.

She was born December 27, 1928, in Two Rivers to Eva (Durocher) and William Mosuch. She was a graduate of Two Rivers High School (1947), and St. Therese School of Nursing, Waukegan, Illinois (1950). She met Norman Gagnon in high school. They dated while Lois was in nursing school and married on May 26, 1951.

Lois was dedicated to her career as a nurse for over 40 years.  Notably, she helped establish and manage the first modern emergency department and ambulatory care unit in Oshkosh at Mercy Hospital. She was also a charter member of the Emergency Nurses’ Association.

Lois had a positive perspective and a fun outlook on life. She loved to play bridge, but never turned down any kind of card game at any time of day.  Lois enjoyed dancing with Norman at the Edgewater Club. She also enjoyed hosting parties, including hilarious “come as you are at this moment” versions. Frequent gatherings of Lois and Norman’s extended families were cherished. More singular pursuits included playing piano, sketching amazing pictures, sewing beautiful holiday clothes for her family, and reading novels late into the night.

Lois was proud of her Catholic faith and was an active member of Most Blessed Sacrament-St. Mary’s.

Her caring nature extended to a passion to help others in her community. In particular, she enjoyed volunteering with the Red Cross during Experimental Aircraft Association events. Lois, along with Norman, participated in community forums that led to the development of the Evergreen Living Community. Evergreen became a valued option for senior living in Oshkosh. Both she and Norman enjoyed their later years there.

She is predeceased by her loving husband. She is survived by her three children, Kay Lapin (Dan), Bill Gagnon, and Jane Baxter (Jay), five grandchildren, Carly Lapin, Justin Lapin, Matt Gagnon, Alec Gagnon, and Charlie Gagnon, and six great grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of life in Two Rivers on August 13, 2022.
