Lois Joanne Naslund

December 21, 1926 — January 5, 2010

Lois Joanne Naslund, 83, of Oshkosh passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning Jan. 5th at her home. She was born Dec. 21, 1926 in Oshkosh to Alice and Reinhold Weinert. Lois was a resident of Oshkosh and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church all of her life. After raising her two daughters, she returned to school and received her degree in occupational therapy. She loved working with and helping the elderly, giving of her time and self thru out her entire life. Lois also loved animals. Since early childhood stories were told of the little girl who would carry apples to the old milk horse. Love and dedication to animals, whether great or small, persisted thru out her life. She rescued, nursed, and cared for any and all animals that were in need. Lois was also a longtime supporter of the Oshkosh Humane Society and a member of the Humane Society of the United States. For many years she raised German Shepherds for rescue and guide dogs. She was frequently seen about Oshkosh with her faithful shepherd at her side. Surviving are her two daughters, Connie Williams of Center City, MN and Debbie Derber (Ed) of Crivitz, WI, one sister, Betty Winkelman (George) of Janesville, WI, on brother, Wayne Weinert (Bonnie) of Pioneer, CA, six grandchildren, a great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. There will be a springtime inurnment at Riverside Cemetery with a Celebration of Lois' Life following for family and friends. The family requests that memorials be given to the Oshkosh Humane Society in memory of Lois's love for animals.
