Loretta A Spiegelberg

Loretta A. Spiegelberg, age 99, went quietly into the arms of her loving Savior on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Bethel Home. She had been a resident of Simeanna III for over 20 years where she enjoyed many friends and neighbors until February 15, 2011.Loretta was born on June 11, 1911 to Charles and Emma (Huebner) Kalbus on a farm near Readfield. She was a WELS Lutheran her entire life being baptized, confirmed and married in Zion Lutheran in Readfield. On September 24, 1932, she married Lester C. Spiegelberg. They farmed in the town of Dale until his death in 1954. In Dale they belonged to St. Pauls Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was a member of the Ladies Aid and a member of the Fox Valley Lutheran High School Guild. In 1966 she moved to Oshkosh, working at Johnson Hills until her retirement. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Oshkosh and a member of the Ladies Guild.She is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Schroeder, Leslyn Spiegelberg and a son-in-law, George Austin. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Paul (Jody) Schroeder, Alisa (Robert) Ensley, Marjean Schroeder (special friend, Art Tiffany), David (Nita) Schroeder, Adrienne Austin (Lance Bradley), ten great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and a special niece and life long friend, Lydia Metzig. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gene Schroeder as well as eight brothers, three sisters and their spouses and a brother-in-law and his spouse. Loretta was treasured for her honesty, good humor and devotion to those she loved.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (338 N. Eagle Street, Oshkosh) with the Rev David Pagel officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Dale Union Cemetery. Memorials have been established in lieu of flowers. A special thank you to Pastor Pagel and to the nursing staff at Bethel Home for your tender, loving care of Loretta.
