Lowell W. Fisk, of Oshkosh, passed peacefully on to new life on Monday, October 9, 2006 at the Aurora Medical Center. He was born in Laurens, IA on September 29, 1924, the son of Earl and Rosalia Wells Fisk. On July 23, 1947 he married Geraldine Ruppert in Casey, IA. Lowell graduated from Iowa State University as a Civil Engineer, and worked for the Iowa Highway Department for a number of years before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska. He was employed by the Nebraska Department of Roads for more than 30 years before retirement. He & his wife Gerry moved to Oshkosh in 1994. He served proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II as part of the 86th Infantry (The Fighting Blackhawks) in the European theater and the Philippines. He was a man of great faith, and a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Geraldine Fisk of Oshkosh, three daughters, Cynthia (Paul) Brown of Conyers, GA, Debra (Gene) Weier of DeForest, WI, and Rebecca (Greg) Powers of Oshkosh, WI; four grandchildren: Jeffrey (Angie) Brown of Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, Patrick Brown of Conyers, GA, Kara Powers of Appleton, WI and Kayla Powers of Oshkosh, WI, and Shelly Weier of Beaver Dam, WI; two great-granddaughters: Jasmine Marie Brown, and Kristin Elizabeth Brown, one aunt, Billye Kent of Winterset, IA, a special cousin, Viola DuBay of Phoenix, AZ; sisters/in/law, June Fisk of Lafayette, IN, and Colleen Ruppert of Casey, IA; brothers/in/law, Darwynn (Louise) Ruppert of Goodyear, AZ, and Robert (Ella May) Ruppert of Washington, IA, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Denzel Fisk, sister Vivian Bramer and brothers/in/law Elmer Bramer and Burdette Ruppert, and by Doug DuBay, a cherished family member. A visitation for family & close friends will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the church on Friday, October 13, 2006, beginning at 12:30 p.m. His memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tim Greenwald officiating. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery immediately after the service. A memorial has been established.
