Lucille “Lou” Holdren, age 77 of Oshkosh, passed away at Ascension Mercy Hospital-Oshkosh on Thursday, September 22, 2022. She was born Easter Sunday, April 1, 1945, to the late Robert and Martha (Piechowski) Quick in Ripon.
She attended Ripon High School and graduated in 1962. Lou started going to school to become a registered nurse, and soon there after joined the United States Naval Reserves. She married her childhood friend, Frederick “Fred” Holdren on August 3, 1968 and had two children. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, she worked as a dedicated and loving registered nurse at Evergreen Manor for 40 years.
Lou enjoyed reading mysteries, playing scrabble on the porch with Fred, putting together puzzles, and going on bus tours.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Fred; children: Brenda (Nick Moyle) Holdren, Michael (Sharon Wilke) Holdren; sister: Karen Downs; brother-in-law: Gary Holdren. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Lou was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Gene Downs, and nephew, Joshua Downs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 30, 2022 at St. Vincent Church, 1225 Oregon St. with Fr. Louis Golamari officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. Entombment will be held at Lake View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed towards programs for Parkinson’s Research, Solutions Recovery Inc, or the charity of your choice.
Lou’s family would like to thank the staff of Ascension Mercy Hospital and Compassus Hospice for the exceptional care provided to her throughout the last week.
