Lyle E. Kraus, 92, Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 1, 2018. He was born August 10, 1926, in Oshkosh, the son of Adolph and Edna (Springen) Kraus. Lyle served our country in the Air Force and shortly thereafter met his wife, Marilyn Lange who he married in Fond du Lac on September 18, 1953. They shared 65 years together and enjoyed many things, including traveling and Polka dancing. Lyle was employed by Axel Tech, formerly Rockwell, until his retirement in 1982. During retirement Lyle worked for Mercury Marine and enjoyed sharing his knowledge however he could.
Lyle was a gifted carpenter and could build just about anything. One of his finest creations was the cabin up north where his family could gather and get away from the world. Lyle enjoyed gardening, camping, and bird watching, and would often mimic the chirps from various types of birds. He was a member of the Mid Wisconsin Chippers and Calvary Lutheran Church.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Marilyn; a son, David (Nancy); granddaughters: Nicole (Joshua) Fenner, Tabitha Kraus and Jennifer (Kyle) Villwock; great grandchildren: Rylan Kraus, Addilyn and Grace Fenner, and Landyn Villwock; a brother-in-law, George Kontos; sisters-in-law: Dorothy “Dottie” Lange and Eleanor Kraus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Rudolph and Marion Lange; sons: Steven and Gary Kraus; a brother, Glen; sisters: Elaine (Richard), Ione (Ted), Sylvia (Lester), and Merle; a sister-in-law, Judy (Dale).
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lyle’s name would be
appreciated to Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
Lyle’s family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Azura Memory Care, as well as Generations Hospice, for their loving and attentive care.
