Lyle Harold Raddatz, 84 of Oshkosh, died at his home on Sunday August 21, 2005, surrounded by family, after a long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born February 5, 1921 in the Town of Nekimi the son of Edwin and Irene (Schwartz) Raddatz. On August 28, 1943 he married Catherine Larsen at First English Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. As a young man Lyle started the Lyle Raddatz Orchestra, which played at dances around the area. Although he played saxophone in the orchestra, he was also an accomplished pianist and organist, who could play any song by ear. He always loved to play cards, especially bridge (3 no-trump) and sheepshead, and usually he won. He loved to dance, together he and Catherine would always be the first ones out on the floor and the last to leave. Lyle farmed for many years and later formed his own Real Estate Company. During retirement he and Catherine enjoyed many trips, especially the one to Germany and Austria. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church.Lyle is survived by his wife, Catherine Raddatz of Oshkosh; daughters, Karla (Bernie) Hoefgen, Marcia (Alan) Borgardt, and Lori (Jeff) Subat; son, Rev. Kent (Ginny) Raddatz; grandchildren, Jill Hoefgen, Anne Hoefgen, Nathan Raddatz, Jason Raddatz, Chris Raddatz, Nick Raddatz, Scott Sticka, Brady Borgardt, Trisha Borgardt, Adam Subat, and Grace Subat; great-grandchildren, Alli Raddatz, Isaac Raddatz, Jordan Sticka, Jasmine Sticka, Henry Sethre, Mystic Raddatz, Angel Raddatz. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Carrie Sticka, a sister Audrey Koepke, and his parents.His funeral service will be Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Noon at First English Lutheran Church with Rev. Joyce Gulliford officiating. Burial will be in Ellenwood Cemetery. Family and friends may call at church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time.
