Marcella Mae Bedore

May 2, 1923 — March 15, 2025

Oshkosh

Marcella Mae Bedore, age 101, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025 at home, due to complications from a recent COVID diagnosis. She was born on May 2, 1923 to Hannah and Adolph Schneider. She graduated from Oshkosh High School, class of January 1942. Marcella married Armin Bedore on June 30, 1951 and had one son, David, on August 28, 1952.

Her working career consisted of secretarial positions at Wisconsin National Life Insurance Co., Deltox Rug Co., and Victrylite Candle Co. The favorite, and last years of employment were at Probation and Parole Dept., Division of Corrections for Wisconsin. In retirement she served for Volunteers in Probation helping many people with grocery shopping, errands, driving to doctors appointments and letter writing for those unable to do it on their own. Another passion Marcella had was writing notes and cards to people for birthdays, holidays, or just those needing cheering up.

Music was an important part of her life, playing the piano for many years at Plymouth Church, along with the organist for both morning and evening services. A temporary position became a 43 year long passion as church choir director.

An enthusiastic traveler, she traveled extensively in the United States, Canada and Europe with many friends and special cousins. A highlight of her life began in 1985 while working in the building next to the county courthouse. Due to secret service protocol, all people had to exit the buildings and be positioned at a perimeter distance to the buildings as President Reagan came to town. A 17 year old German exchange student came to see our President and they stood next to each other for three hours. They exchanged addresses, a phone number and remain as close today, having visited each other’s families many times in Oshkosh, Frankfurt and Hamburg in the years since.

Marcella is survived by her son, David; and special friends, Marilee, Michelle, Karen, and Judy; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Armin; parents, Hannah and Adolph Schneider; father-and-mother-in-law, Henry and Ella Bedore; sister and brother-in-law, Willebelle and Arnold Kroll; nephew, Richard Kroll; Armin’s brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph Bedore and Coralee Bedore-Ruedinger, Lloyd and Ruby Bedore.

A memorial is being established in her honor.
