Margaret Elizabeth Henderson Keefe

Margaret Henderson Keefe, age 94, passed away at Bethel Home on January 7, 2016. Margaret was born in Oshkosh on December 7, 1921 to the late Harry and Mildred Henderson. After high school graduation, she attended college in Washington, DC and Ormond Beach, FL. Margaret returned to Oshkosh to work in the family department store, Henderson-Hoyt, and later married Burton Keefe on December 30, 1945. Margarets love of and education in both music and fashion design came in handy as she and Burt raised their 3 children. Her heart of a volunteer was very evident by active participation as Cub Scout Den Mother, Campfire leader, support of school music groups, Oshkosh YMCA Swim Team Parents, American Legion Auxiliary #70. Margaret & Burt enjoyed many trips around the U.S. visiting family & friends. Margarets favorite was accompanying her friend, twice a year, to Florida. Her volunteering continued with American Red Cross, EAA, and Mercy Medical Center. In her spare time Margaret enjoyed music, cross stitch, making tied comforters, sewing, knitting, upholstery, numerous other crafts and playing word games. Margaret is survived and missed by her children Kevin (Pamela) Keefe of Carlisle, SC, Kathleen (Richard) Boettner of Omro and Christopher (Joyce Phillips) Keefe of Cross Plains, WI; brother, Edwin Henderson of FL; grandchildren Ryan Boettner of Jupiter, FL, Michael (Jessica) Boettner of St. Francis, WI, Timothy (Julia Mauer) Boettner of Jacksonville, NC, Carrie Taylor of Lincolnton, NC, Kimberly Loeper (Bryan) of Shiloh, IL, and Shaun (Michelle Cox) Keefe of Brentwood, TN, great-grandchildren, Katherine Keefe and Olivia, Christopher and Marcus Loeper, special friend Marie Keefe and numerous nieces and nephews.Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Burton; and four brothers, William, Charles, Donald, and Richard Henderson. The family would like to thank the staff of Serenity Gardens at Bethel Home for their compassionate care and support.Services for Margaret will be at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday January 16, 2016 at the Konrad-Behlman Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr Oshkosh, WI 54904). Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service. Memorials have been established.
