Margaret L. Schettl was born September 11th,1931 to parents Alvin and Doris (Schram) Schuhart at home. She was baptized and confirmed at Martin Luther Church. She met the love of her life Ed and married in 1955. They were married for 57 years.
Margaret sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for several years. She graduated from Oshkosh High School where she played the saxophone and clarinet in both jazz band and Marching Bands. She worked in retail and left the business as a meat cutter for Dick’s Meat market and later Armstrons Meat Market in 1978 when her and Ed built a home on Lake Winneconne in Winneconne.
Margaret planted many flower beds, shrubs, and wherever she could find a spot, under Ed’s scrutiny. She had many mallards who came for breakfast every morning and a mother duck would nest in their barrel on the dock. When the ducklings grew up, they would come every morning for breakfast too. She loved to fish, but not to clean them. Only half was left when she got done! She loved her birds and deer that she fed on her back patio daily. She said they kept her company.
Margaret was a self-taught organ player, crocheter, and loved to bowl. Best friends, Bob and Bev always had a plan for what they would do next. She had great get-togethers with Vic, Barb, Al, and Rita, their faithful friends. Elissa and Anna had a blast with one another while their future husbands were in the service. They had the best watchful neighbors you could ask for and truly wonderful families, who could ask for more. All in all -a great life!
Margaret is survived by her brothers, James (Elissa) Schuhart, and Jerald Schuhart; sister-in-law, Mary Schuhart; niece, Kristina (Mike) Madison and Nephew, Joe (Shelby) Schuhart as well as many more nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Schettl; brothers, Alton (Carol) Schuhart, Thomas Schuhart; and sister, Sandra (Dennis) McHugh.
A service for Margaret will be held at Martin Luther Church (1526 Algoma Blvd) on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 12PM. A time of visitation will be held from 11AM until the time of service. A burial will take place at Lake View Memorial Park following the service.
The family wishes to express their deepest thanks for the kind compassionate care to Heartland Hospice, Omro Care Center and for the years of care from all the staff at Aurora Wound Care in Oshkosh.
