Margarita Ainsworth

January 27, 1960 — March 21, 2022

Margarita “Margie” Ainsworth of Oshkosh, WI, was called back to our Lord on Monday, March 21, 2022.

“And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”” - Luke: 23:43

She was born January 27, 1960, in San Antonio, TX, the only child of Margarita “Maggie” Martínez Gutierrez, and James H. Overton. She spent her childhood and attended grade schools in Harlingen, TX and moved to Oshkosh, WI in 1990. With a strong orientation for service, Margarita spent a number of years working at the Oshkosh Housing Authority, in hospitality at the Hilton Garden Inn, and in health care, most recently at Centennial Inn and Nova Counseling Services, all in Oshkosh.

Margarita treasured her time with her grandsons, having spent countless hours reading books, cooking, playing games, and drawing with them. She loved music from the 50’s and 60’s, enjoyed bird watching out her windows, and was highly creative, having spent a lot of her time on crafting, sewing, and trying out new recipes.

A faithful and loyal servant, Margarita dedicated time daily to reading scripture and praying for her family and friends. A natural helper, she always did what she could to help others in need.

Margarita was preceded in death by her mother and her father, her grandparents Jesús T. Martínez, Herminia Treviño Martínez; her aunts: Concepción “Conchita” Martínez, Martina “Tina” Garza, Alicia “Alice” Martínez, Josefa “Josie” Tamez, Irma Arismendi; her uncles: Moisés Martínez, Francisco “Frank” Martínez, and her cousins: Andrés “Andy” M. Arismendi Jr., and Ana Yolanda Arismendi.

Her memory and legacy will be carried on by her daughters: Sandra (Arturo) Peña, née Gutierrez, of Chicago, IL; Tara Berry, née Gutierrez, of Oshkosh, WI; Ashlee (Jennifer) Ainsworth of Oshkosh, WI; grandsons: Dylan C. Phillips, Ethan B. Phillips, Colin E. Berry, Lisandro A. Peña, and Tezcalli A. Peña; her sisters: Jennifer (John “Scott”) Perryman of Winthrop, WA, and Tu Anh Luong of Austin, TX; her uncle Jesús (Linda) Martínez, Jr. of Portland, OR; her first cousins: Jesse (Lisa) Tamez of Austin, TX; Joe (Rose) Tamez of Grand Prairie, TX; Kelly (David) Larson of Lafayette, LA; Mark (Michelle) Martínez of Portland, OR; Armando (Tracy) Arismendi of Wake Forest, NC; Marialice Lozano, Yvonne “Bonnie” Lozano, and Margaret (Buddy) Howard all of San Antonio, TX; Rudy Garza and Abel Garza of Texas; Lisa Goripow of Philadelphia, PA; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Service and Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held in Austin, Texas.

“So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” - 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
