Marguerite M. Maurer, 93 of Oshkosh, passed away Sunday March 7, 2010 at Bethel Home where she had been a resident for 6 1/2 years. She was born in Oshkosh on March 10, 1916 to William and Anna (Firzlaff) Uttech. She attended Jefferson Grade School and attended Oshkosh High School, graduating from Sheboygan High School in 1934. She married Henry J. Maurer of Marshfield in Oshkosh on June 18, 1938. He lost his life in a boating accident at their Lake Poygan cottage in 1962. She has lived in Oshkosh, Sheboygan, Wausau, and Marshfield (for most of her married life), finally moving back to Oshkosh in 1977 where she has resided ever since.While living in Marshfield, WI, she and her husband, Henry were involved in starting and managing The Maurer Supply Corp. which is still in operation. Some of the other Marshfield businesses that they were involved in were: Maurer Direct Services, Citizens National Bank, Superior Gas Service, and the Washington Square Shopping Center.Marguerite had been a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Oshkosh; Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield; and UCT (United Commercial Travelers). She was a lifetime student loving to learn anything new. She loved to cook, and bake. She was a seamstress; gardener; crafter; world traveler; investor; ecologist; recycler; fisherwoman; huntress (duck & deer, and occasionally, bear). She loved swimming and volleyball, and often said that she wished that she had pursued golfing.She is survived by a son, Jerry W. Maurer of Deerfield, IL; a daughter, Judy Ann (David) Hasenohrl of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Brian (Lorelei) Hasenohrl of Oshkosh; Stacy (nee Hasenorhl) (Brian) Meyer of Wisconsin Rapids; and Lee (Cindy) Hasenohrl of Oshkosh; two great grandchildren, Austin and Brendon Meyer. She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers; and a sister.Her funeral will be Thursday March 11, 2010 at 6:30 PM at the Bethel Home Chapel with Chaplain Kathy Vander Velden officiating. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield, WI on Friday. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 PM to the service time at the Bethel Home Chapel and in Marshfield at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel on Friday from 11:00 AM until Noon with a committal service at Noon. In lieu of flowers the family would like to encourage memorials be given to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Bethel Home 2 East.
