Marian I. Cavanaugh, 90, of Oshkosh died Wednesday February 21, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born Dec. 28, 1916 in Oshkosh a daughter of the late Otto and Anna (Hoger) Frey. Marian married Donald H. Cavanaugh on Oct. 18, 1941 in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 1992. Marian had worked at J. C. Penney for 16 years until her retirement. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Dorcas Circle, Quilting Club, and volunteered for funeral luncheons. Marian also volunteered at Bethel Home, PVHC-Pleasant Acres, Winnebago Mental Health Institute, and was a member of the T.O.P.S. Club. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, baking, reading, and playing cards. Her survivors include four sons, Donald Jr. (special friend Carla Sawall), Rick (Susan), Larry, and Kevin Cavanaugh, a daughter, Marcia (Daryl) Hoppe, three grandchildren, Dawn, Michelle, and Greg, three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Pierce, and Jacob, a sister, Evelyn (George) Williams, and two sisters-in-law Paulette and Susan Cavanaugh all of Oshkosh. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, James and Dennis Cavanaugh, a grandson, Jeff Cavanaugh, and a brother and sister-in-law Robert (Bernice) Frey. Funeral services for Marian will be held Saturday Feb. 24, 2007 at Noon at Christ Lutheran Church, Rev. Eric Quinney-Burnard officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until the service. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial to Christ Lutheran Church has been established. Marians family sends a special thank you to Karen Moyle, Chris & Barb Schatz, and Affinity (Mercy) Hospice for their care and compassion.
