Marise “Honey” McCarthy, age 83, was called home to Heaven after a long courageous battle with leukemia on Thursday, June 29, 2017. Marise was born to the late Edward and Louise (Nee Vos) May on January 28, 1934 in the Town of Wheatland, WI. She married William McCarthy on July 25, 1953 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster, WI.
In her own unique, quiet, dignified way, Honey personified her faith and love of God and family. She lived her life as a faith filled daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Her boundless love of family extended to her siblings, in-laws and their progeny. “Honey” was a beautiful example of love and spent her life caring for and helping others. She was always willing to assist anyone in need with a helping hand or kind words. Marise spent a great deal of time supporting family members in their activities, along with cheering on the Packers and Brewers. She enjoyed traveling, living a healthy, active lifestyle, quilting, crocheting, knitting, playing bridge and especially cribbage with grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Josaphat Parish Rosary Society. She was also an active volunteer leader with groups such as Camp Fire girls; volunteered for several years as a hostess for the Advocap senior meals program and an EAA volunteer. Marise was a founding and active member of the local Christ Child Society as she always had a special place in her heart for children.
Marise is survived by her loving husband, William; their children Brian McCarthy, Ann (Scott) Decker, Dan (Dee) McCarthy, Dave (Sue) McCarthy, Sean (Jill) McCarthy, Meghan (Brian) Neveau; their grandchildren Ryan, Kevin, Pat (Lisa Trachsel), Tim (Amanda Mehringer), Clare(Jeff Thurber), Caitlin, Connor (Andrea) McCarthy; Maggie (Jason) Hoeg; Brennan (Emily) Decker, Tyler (Lisa) Decker and Landon Decker; Nathan, Erin and Lauren Neveau and two great-grandchildren, Domenick Hoeg, and Lucy Apple Decker.
She is further survived by her sisters Ruth Horvat, Julia Dunbar and Theresa McCarthy as well as countless nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Marise in death were her parents and step-mother; brother Oswald and sister-in-law Alice May and brother Edward May; brothers-in-law George Horvat, Maurice “Mo” Dunbar, John R. “Hans” McCarthy.
Marise’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all the dedicated staff at Parkview for their kindness, care and support throughout her time there.
