Marjorie Priscilla Vette

Marjorie Nicholson (Nickie) Vette, 100, of Oshkosh, formerly of Evanston, Illinois, died on Friday, September, 22, 2006 at Bethel Home. She was born on March 21, 1906 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas and Harriet Nicholson. Nickie married John E. Vette on December 6, 1930 in Wilmette, Illinois. John preceded her in death in June of 1979.Mrs. Vette was a graduate of Northwestern University, and a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, she had been a volunteer at the Evanston – Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and a long time member of The Kenilworth Union Church.Survivors include her son, John R. (Suzanne) Vette of Oshkosh; daughter, Barbara Vette Ryan of Walnut Creek, California; six grandchildren: Jane Vette of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; John Brad (Laura) Vette of Oshkosh; Jeffrey Ryan of Orinda, California; Debra (William) Tellman of Brevard, North Carolina; Marcy (Josh) Ryan-Nichol of Orinda, California; and Linda (Timothy Loughlin) Ryan of Mt. Shasta, California. Marjorie is also survived by eleven great grandchildren; three nieces, and one nephew.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Robert Nicholson.The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Gabriels Villa and Bethel Home who gave Marjorie (Nickie) such excellent care.A memorial service is planned for an undetermined date. Details of that event will be announced later. Memorials may be directed to, Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh, the Boys and Girls Club of Oshkosh or The Kenilworth Union Church. Inurnment will be in Skokie Memorial Park, Skokie, Illinois.
