Marlene Mae Sis Drew, age 77, passed away Friday, May 6 at Aurora Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Oshkosh, Sis was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Clifford Drew. Also, her brothers Bill Willy and Clifford Drew, sister-in-law Phyllis Drew, brother-in-law Billy Gregory, niece Laura Drew, and nephew Steve Drew. She is survived by her brother Carl Buck Drew, sister Beverly Gregory, sisters-in-law Diana and Shirley, nephews Alan and Todd, and nieces Lynn Richmond, Misty Hawley, Julie Tessen-Keller, Jodie Jones, Kay Hentz, and Renee Bates. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews, great- great- nieces and nephews, and friends.Sis was a generous spirit, and always willing to help friends and family. From babysitting any of her nieces or great-nieces and great-nephews, to teaching half of them how to drive over the years, she had a large impact on the people around her. Her kindness even extended to the animal world. As our crazy cat lady, she adopted and loved many feline companions over the years. Siss personality was larger than life. She enjoyed water fights, traveled to Europe and Hawaii, and had a love for Star Trek. She was always excited to try new things; new foods especially and loved to shock people with her unusually high tolerance for spicy dishes. Though she suffered from scoliosis and arthritis she was a very independent and active person. She got her hair done every week and especially after retirement enjoyed playing cards and going to lunch with the girls and her brother. She retired from the Water Department at Oshkosh City Hall in 1998 after 41 years of service. During her tenure she worked out at the warehouse, and enjoyed joking around with the guys.Services will be held Friday, May 13 at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation is from 2 PM to 4 PM, with funeral services immediately following. Because of Siss love of animals, the family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Oshkosh Area Humane Society (1925 Shelter Ct., Oshkosh, WI 54901) or N.E.W. PAWSibilities (2300 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, WI 54901). In addition, the family would like to extend their special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Aurora Medical Centers Intensive Care Unit. The family encourages anyone attending the service to wear red in honor of Sis' love for the color.
